A teacher has died and pupils are injured after a shooting in a primary school classroom.
North Park Elementary in San Bernardino, California is on lockdown with pupils evacuated to a nearby high school, fire officials said.
Police chief Jarrod Burguan said two adults died from gunshot wounds in a suspected ‘murder suicide’, while another two people are wounded and have been airlifted to hospital.
They are believed to be pupils who were in the classroom.
Photos from the scene show children being led away hand in hand, while parents were informed of a shooting at the school.
Local police chief Jarrod Burguan tweeted: ‘We believe this to be a murder suicide. Happened in a classroom. Two students have been transported to the hospital.
‘Students at the school are being taking to Cajon High School for safety.’
The shooter is believed to have turned the gun on themselves.
‘We do believe the threat is down,’ police said.
