Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City in £50million transfer tussle as James Rodriguez plans departure
A host of Premier League clubs are set to go head-to-head to secure the signing of James Rodriguez this summer, reports say.
Having fallen behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale in the pecking order at Real Madrid, Rodriguez is said to be open to a move in order to find regular game-time.
The Daily Mirror say Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all intend to move for the Colombian, who is valued at around £50million.
Premier League frontrunners Chelsea want to strengthen Antonio Conte’s squad at Stamford Bridge as the Italian eyes a return to the Champions League following a year out of Europe.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will be under pressure to make a marquee signing after a hugely underwhelming season under Arsene Wenger.
Liverpool have been repeatedly linked with a move for Rodriguez, 25, over the past few years while Man City have shown they have the financial power to defeat any club in a transfer battle.
