Ben Koufie Former Ghana international dies at 84

He played for the Ghana national team in the late 50’s and also coached the national side between 1970 and 1973.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is currently mourning the death of former Black Stars player, Ben Koufie who passed away on Monday, July 4 at the age of 84.
Koufie according to reports from Ghana, died at the Korle Bu Hospital after a brief illness.

He played for the Ghana national team in the late 50’s and also coached the national side between 1970 and 1973.
Koufie led Asante Kotoko to the Africa Club Championship in 1971 and also worked with Great Olympics, African Sports in Ivory Coast and Akosombo Akotex.

He was also coach of the Zimbabwean national team from 1988-1992.
The 84-year-old also served as the president of the GFA 2001 -2003 after serving as the technical director of the Botswana FA for eight years.
