Dino Melaye is everything that’s wrong with Nigeria

Dino Melaye
Where was Dino’s “mother of all protests” when the Senate wanted to buy 469 cars despite the economic crisis in the country? Where was this protest when his friend, Senate President, Bukola Saraki bought vehicles worth N330M at the country’s expense?
Senator Dino Melaye has once again put on his crusader cap and is threatening to protest against the Federal Government due to the increase in the price of fuel.
According to Melaye, if the action is not reversed, he will “mobilize Nigerians from all walks of life for the mother of all protests”.
“My sincere advice is for the National Chairman of our party to suggest that the federal government immediately reverse the announced increase in the pump price of PMS. If after seven days from Monday, there is no reversal, I will mobilize Nigerians from all walks of life for the mother of all protests,” the senator said via Facebook on May 13, 2016.
However, Melaye’s outrage seemed to have reduced somewhat by the time he appeared on Channels TV to discuss this “mother of all protests”.
Instead of vowing to hit the streets, he spoke of opening a register for Nigerians to show their displeasure at the government’s action.
“I will go on the street if there is no reversal of the price. We will open a register after the seven days ultimatum and ask Nigerians to come and register and show their displeasure and after that we will go and present the signatures of Nigerians in the register to Mr President,” he said.
When asked about what the register would mean, he said:
“It will amount to the fact that Nigerians are not pleased, Nigerians are not supporting the increase and that we are saying that this is democracy, there must be consultation, there must be negotiations with the people.”
Dino Melaye fancies himself to be a hero of the Nigerian people, but he is, in fact, a symbol of the things that plague our existence.
Where was Dino’s “mother of all protests” when the Senate wanted to buy 469 cars despite the economic crisis in the country? Where was this protest when his friend, Senate President, Bukola Saraki bought vehicles worth N330M at the country’s expense? Where was Dino’s outrage when the Senate eventually bought 36 SUVs at N36.5 million each?
Dino Melaye claims to be an anti-corruption campaigner, but he sees nothing wrong with flaunting his fleet of luxury cars and bikes which are well beyond the reach of the masses and which he has shown no valid source of income for.
Dino Melaye

How can a public servant live so extravagantly and show off his suspect wealth so insensitively? How can a lawmaker, a supposed honourable, open his mouth and say that “made-in-Nigeria women” should be “patronized”? How can he carry a tray on the street and claim to be hawking groundnuts as his connection to the masses? How can one person cause so much offence to a country’s reputation and stain its image beyond the reaches of bleach and detergent?

Dino Melaye

The day the likes of Dino Melaye stop getting elected into office is the day Nigeria can finally hope to be truly led, not ruled, but led, led into its destiny of greatness, led to the bright future that awaits.
Mr Dino Melaye, please don’t attempt to mobilize any Nigerian for any protest, because, unless you pay the usual touts, you will suddenly look back and realize that you are alone, all alone in your profligacy, and only God can help you then.
